'Our courses are designed for A level, BTEC and IB teachers to aid them in the delivery of the curriculum. The courses are linked to the major Post 16 syllabi and look at ways into teaching Stanislavski or Berkoff. We want teachers to be able to get up and have a go at the exercises that Stanislavski used and Berkoff uses with actors. Teachers then find that having walked through each exercise as the actor, they then have greater confidence in understanding and teaching both Stanislavski and Berkoff.

A practical examination of the major elements of Stanislavski’s system

Working on the exercises used by Stanislavski at the Moscow Art Theatre

Ways of using these exercises with students

Analysing a section from The Seagull using Stanislavski

Using Stanislavski with the current post 16 syllabi

By the end of the session teachers feel they have gained a rounded understanding of Stanislavski’s system coupled with a series of lesson ideas that can be taken straight to the drama studio.

Our Berkoff INSET:

A practical examination of the key exercises and influences specific to Berkoff’s work and style.

An examination of post modern mime, choreographed movement and improvisation.

Practical analysis of how Berkoff uses stage directions, language and the ensemble environment.

How to take the student from exercises into the rehearsal process using Metamorphosis as a sample text.

Our INSET courses takes place at a performing arts venue in Muswell Hill North London and are priced at £ 275 for the day to include refreshments and lunch.
