“The Stanislavski Experience allowed my students to explore Stanislavski’s ideas in a practical and exciting way. Whether used as a revision tool, or to squeeze in essential information into a busy curricular timetable, The Stanislavski Experience is a fantastic learning tool.
I would definitely have them back!”

IB Theatre Diploma Workshops
We run workshops specifically for IB Theatre Diploma students in all of the above areas. Our IB workshops are designed to incorporate all 3 units at Diploma level - Theatre in the making, Theatre in performance and Theatre in the world.
The workshop would explore the social, cultural and historic background of a practitioner in reference to the practical work undergone. For example the IB Stanislavski workshop incorporates the role of Stalin and the Soviet censor in the creation of and our understanding of the System.
Creative Residencies
Our Creative Residencies last from 2 to 5 days focussing on your choice of practitioner and style. The residency will work through key practitioner exercises building towards a performance on the last day. Our Creative Residencies are ideal for creating a piece of original theatre or rehearsing a play for performance in the style of a chosen practitioner.
Stanislavski Workshop
Our workshops provide a step by step approach to understanding and using the Stanislavski system. We introduce the students to exercises that would help them to understand how Stanislavski works both in theory and in practise. The exercises are the ones handed down by Stanislavski that were used at the Moscow Art Theatre as part of actor training.
Our aim is to give students a rounded understanding and experience of Stanislavski technique that will benefit them in Acting and understanding of how theatre works.
The workshops help the student to understand how to effectively create and develop a character through topics which include:
-
The Objective
-
The Super Objective
-
Imagination
-
Free body -
Actions
-
Communication
-
Tempo rhythm

The second part of the workshop examines the developing rehearsal process, the Method of Physical Action and Active Analysis allowing the students to try out the tools they have learnt in the first session.
The workshop gives them an insight into how to create, explore and develop a character with references to the development of acting technique, theatre and how professional actors use the techniques today.

Physical Theatre / Lecoq Workshop |
Our Physical Theatre workshop explores the dynamics of movement with a Lecoq practitioner.
By working as a professional group of performers, students experience a practical application to creative interpretation of acting.
The students explore human nature through visual expression, language and acting technique.
There are exercises on the play and replay of daily life as used by contemporary companies such as Frantic Assembly and more traditional chorus based physical theatre used by Steven Berkoff in all of his productions.
|
Brecht |
The Brecht workshop starts with a voice and movement warm up leading on to working through Epization and Gestus exercises that Brecht used with his actors.
The group explores alienation through improvisation and then works on a text (of your choice) using various techniques to create a piece of Brechtian Theatre.
|
Berkoff |
Our Berkoff workshop explores professional rehearsal techniques and exercises used to achieve a practical understanding of Berkoff’s rich poetic language and ensemble physical performance style. The workshop can be linked to Metamorphosis, Greek or any of Berkoff’s plays. Our practitioner has played Greta in Metamorphosis and The Wife in Greek. |
Devising Drama |
In our devising workshops students are encouraged to work as a professional company of actors on a devising process.
Using the unique talents and creativity of each group, our theatre practitioner will use exercises that focus on the sharing of style, culture, individual experience, planning, thinking and practical experiment of ideas.
The workshop can be structured to facilitate any stage of your student’s progress and will prioritise the key examination requirements that might be enhanced by the input of an outside theatre professional.

Directing Theatre |
The workshop involves exercises based on your text that examines the play from the perspective of the Director. Students will analyse and stand up a section of the play, experiencing the techniques and craft of the Theatre Director first hand.
|
Meisner |
The Meisner workshop examines the key teaching of Sanford Meisner focussing on practical exercises that allow the actor to be fully “in the moment”. The workshop will work on accessing the actor's impulses, through which real responses and real behaviour can be accessed in the moment. The student, through improvisation will work on creating the specific physical characteristics of a part they are playing. |
Workshops start from £155/£175 for a 2 hour session | £295 for a 4 hour session.
